The name Reiki comes for the Japanese words
rei, which means spirit, or universal, and ki meaning life force.
It is believed the universal life force energy will flow through the practitioner's hands whenever the hands are placed on, or held near, the body.
One of the benefits of a Reiki session is that it offers the recipient
the opportunity to experience a deep state of relaxation.
Usually the most noticeable and immediate effect of the treatment
is a general sense of well being.
Although Reiki treatment is said to be a stimulating natural healing process, instantaneous "cures" of specific health problems are not usually observed.
Reiki practitioners may encourage their clients to consult a medical doctor for serious conditions, stating that Reiki can be used
to complement conventional medicine.
